Watch Little Mix's gif-tastic new video

Earlier today, Little Mix unleashed the video for their latest single, Love Me Like You, on an entirely suspecting public (they've been teasing it for the best part of a century).

Just like the video for Black Magic, the story is set in a US high school - this time, with the girls attending Prom. That tells you something about the ambition for the band's third album, which aims to improve on the number 6 placing for 2013's Salute.

It also explains why the band are spreading their Wings and attempting a more mainstream sound after the 90s R&B stylings of their previous work.

Personally, I think they've pulled it off. The band have just enough sass and character to get make the girlband cliché of a Motown throwback seem fresh. And that's particularly apparent in the video, which contains all sorts of ridiculous face-pulling in the name of "acting",

Are there gifs? Of course there are gifs.

I'm no expert, but surely this is not how you apply lipstick

Now, let's see all those moments in context.

What does YouTube think of Cheryl's new video?

Remember, kids, Cheryl doesn't care what you think of her. She cares so little that her new video is an endless sequence of grimaces conveying her lack of interest in your puny opinion. Look:

But despite Cheryl's disdain for your points of view, you've been leaving them in your droves on YouTube - where the video for I Don't Care premiered yesterday.

For the most part, the comments section is a pitched battle between Cheryl's "soldiers" and Nicole Scherzinger's fanclub (if you can imagine such a thing). Apparently, Cheryl has "stolen" Nicole's "idea" of filming a music video on a long stretch of sand next to the ocean. Because, thanks to a glitch in the space-time continuum, Nicole Scherzinger became the first singer ever to visit a beach late in the Triassic era, where she bored all the dinosaurs to death with an in-depth lecture about yoghurt.

Otherwise, the comments are as scathing, random and insane as you'd hope. My favourite so far:

10) "SHANIA TWAIN IS BACK!"

9) "Maybe she is not the best singer, but at least she knows how to entertain people "

8) "Listen to her going on and on and on and on about not caring. It's obvious she does."

7) "She just looks demented"

6) "How old are you chery [sic]? Are you 20 -30?"

5) "She would of been better shooting this video round the toon and Byker"

4) "'I can see the milky way and it seems so far away.' Well that's Cheryl's contribution to Astronomy taken care of."

3) "'I Don't Care'. Pretty much sums up my life but i guess that's why i don't have a job."

2) "I'd crawl over broken glass naked so I could wear her arse on my face like a Batman mask"

1) "Why do people insist on creating hate between Nicole and Cheryl? They are both cancer zodiac signs. Nicole was born on June 29th and Cheryl on June 30th which means what!?!?! That they are the SAME so of course you will see the SAME in their videos and their songs will have similar meanings because their personalities are the same! Omg, people learn your facts."

"Learn your facts". Amazing.

Now, let's have that video in full.

Haim: The gift that keeps on Gif-ing

We already knew that Haim were accomplished dancers - you may even remember this video of Este recreating Britney's routine for Ooops! I Did It Again - but their new video is on another level entirely.

Choreographed by Fatima Robinson (Aaliyah's Are You That Somebody, The Black Eyed Peas' My Humps), the video for If I Could Change Your Mind recalls the dance-centric videos we used to get in the 1990s. Alana, Este and Danielle aren't quite as pop-and-click perfect as, say, Janet Jackson - but nonetheless this is a serious rival to Beyonce's Single Ladies.

It is also the most Gif-able video of the year. Feast your eyes on these killer moves.

1) The finger-clicks

2) The hair flicks

3) The soft-shoe shuffle

4) The "just stepped out of a salon"

5) The synchronised handclap

6) The sucker punch

Now you've digested all of that, here's the video in all it's hip-shaking glory.

Haim - If I Could Change Your Mind

UPDATE: The band were in Radio 1's Live Lounge this morning, where Este sang a particularly fruity version of Beyonce's XO. At this moment in time, Haim can literally do no wrong. Unless they kill Bambi.

The MTV awards in gifs, pics, a vine, a soundbite and a video

Justin Timberlake was the big winner at last night's VMAs but nobody watches it for the awards, do they? Here are the best bits in "this video has been removed due to a copyright claim from Viacom Ltd" form.

Lady Gaga glued her eyes open by accident.

But her multi-wigged performance of "Applause" was a triumph.

Even if the dancers looked a little confused at the end of it.

Pharrell cycled to work.

The rest of Daft Punk probably arrived on a spaceship -
but they failed to perform or win any awards :(

In fact, Get Lucky inexplicably lost best song of the summer to One Direction.

Taylor "shut the fuck up" Swift was not amused. And she wasn't the only one...

One Direction were loudly booed as they took their prize.
Which led to Lady Gaga giving them an exceptionally cute pep talk backstage.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus did this sort of thing a lot.

And showed how she failed her interview to be a London 2012 Games Maker.

The Smith family were distinctly unimpressed by the hoedown throwdown.

Robin Thicke managed to be an even bigger sleaze than ever.

Rihanna looked thrilled just to be part of it all.

Kanye West performed in the dark.

TLC reunion!!

Justin Timberlake basically got to perform his own concert.

Which included this incredible N*Sync moment.

...As well as this one.

Taylor Swift seemed to enjoy this one.

Katy Perry closed the show by skipping under the Brooklyn Bridge.

It was the most traditional performance of the night...

...But it chose a theme, stuck to it, and didn't fall back on gimmicks or nudity.
Well done, Katy.

THE END.

So that's the awards "in full". They're on MTV UK later tonight, and pretty much every other night until the end of the month. If you don't have time to sit through it all (there's a performance from Drake, FYI) the best bit is Justin's mind-blowing 15-minute hits medley, which incorporates Led Zeppelin's Kashmir and Rapper's Delight, amongst other thing. It's incredible.

Girls Aloud: A career in 25 gifs

Even dreams that glitter have to come to an end: Girls Aloud are no more.

Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!! This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!! Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together . Love you lots.

The thing is: I agree. Pop shouldn't outstay it's welcome, and Girls Aloud have had an extremely successful, and particularly lengthy, run at the top.

As the band approach their 30s, it would have been unseemly for them to keep singing about margarita-fuelled one night stands. On their recent tour, lines like "should have hung around the kitchen in my underwear" felt especially awkward. And, let's face it, if they'd started making another album, Cheryl would have insisted on Will.i.am producing half of it. And no-one in their right minds would have wanted that.

So, thank you, Girls Aloud. You were awesome. And we're looking forward to Nicola's next solo album like you wouldn't believe.

And here, as an animated gif memorial, are the band's best bits.

Cheryl "Tweedy" is first to become a Girl Aloud.

Disco Dancing with the lights down low.

The Show: A rousing anthem of female empowerment.

Rise and shine, Nicola.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

"The hair toss" - Girls Aloud's signature dance move.

And once you've hit on a good idea...

... Exploit it for all you're worth.

Biology: The moment the world went: "They're not too bad. For a girl band".

Really? Oh my god.

A failure to grasp the rudiments of a foreign language was parlayed into a hit single.
Also, corsets.

Alert: High heels can be hazardous to your health.

I'm sad to hear that you're still shook up.

Over the course of decade, Kimberley would refine the pout into an artform.

Mmmmm, sandwiches.

The very first tear Cheryl shed on X Factor started the countdown to the band's demise.

From top to bottom, I'm all woman, sunshine.

The Walk.

The Stomp.

The Promise.

Winning a Brit.

Chasing a wasp.

Riding a bottle of champagne.

"It's not pervy, it's a visual metaphor or whatever".

Goodbye Sarah.
Goodbye Nadine.
Goodbye Kimberley.
Goodbye Nicola.
Goodbye Cheryl.
Goodbye Girls Aloud. *sniff*
